Plano Yesterday and Today
Few people know that the City of Plano began as a small farming community in the 1840's. Growth was slow and steady for the first 130 years, only 1500 people lived in Plano in 1940. But all that changed beginning in the 70's, and Plano has experienced three decades of rapid growth and improvement.

Today Plano is home to 240,000. The Plano School District operates 57 schools. The Plano Public Library holdings include 354,000 books! And Plano Parks & Recreation offers more that 3,600 acres of parks, playgrounds and hike and bike trails.
