Corporate Life

Home to more than 6000 businesses, Plano is a who's who for the technology sector with EDS, Alcatel, and Ericsson topping the list.

Other major employers include Perot Systems, Countrywide Funding Corporation, Frito-Lay, Inc., J.C. Penney Inc., Medical Center of Plano, Dr. Pepper, and A T & T wireless.

Locals Key to Success
Plano's highly trained residents are a key to local businesses success. More than 47% of the adult workforce has four or more years of collage. Fifty five percent hold management and professional positions. Plano's excellent quality of life and relatively low cost of living continue to attract both businesses and residents, which in turn enhance life in Plano for everyone.

Plano is Business Friendly
The Plano Economic Development Board successfully markets Plano to companies. In 2003, Plano attracted 35 new economic development projects including Southwest Corporate Federal Credit Union, Cates Control Systems, and Tyler Technologies. Other companies like Harley Davidson Finance Corp. and PepsiCo fueled employment growth by expanding existing operations.

The Plano Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 59th year. It is an active force in the community supporting business through networking events, and active involvement in community government, education, media, transportation and civic organizations.

The city's taxation policy, including Texas' lowest property tax rate, and the abatement incentive for businesses for all kinds have assured it's well-deserved reputation as extremely business friendly.
