The year 2010 was the 100th anniversary of Boys Scouts of America and it was the 17th and final year for the Great Plains District which serves Plano and Wylie. In 2012 this region will be two districts of the BSA, the Northern Lights District and the Golden Arrow District.

Accordingly, the 17th Annual District Recognition Dinner on January 6 in Plano was the last for Great Plains District. More than 300 scouters were on hand to honor this year's class of Eagle Scouts which included 151 new Eagles from 36 area Troops and Crews.

Great Plains chairman John Stone will continue in that role for the new Golden Arrow District and David Downs will chair the Northern Lights District.
